Circularity skills acceleration within the regional automotive industry
This work package aims to provide a comprehensive solution tailored to the automotive sector, enhancing skills in the context of a circular economy to accelerate the development of circular products and services. Industry input will be gathered to identify key needs related to environmental design, economic opportunities, legal challenges, technical skills, and behavioral changes, with additional insights from previous activities to benchmark required expertise.
Collaboration with training centers, existing tools, and public authorities will help refine the strategy and promote the content developed.
Key actions include:
- A kick-off workshop to introduce circularity concepts
- An analysis of competence gaps, identifying missing skills in companies
- Development of an assessment framework to match company and individual needs
- The creation of a continuous training framework aimed at reskilling engineers and upskilling technicians
- An awareness session to raise understanding of circular economy practices
- While the development of specific training modules is not part of this project, an inventory of learning pathways will be created to address the identified skills gap, providing a practical toolkit for the future.
Deliverables:
- A report summarizing the outcomes of the actions and an awareness session.
The Toolkit will include:
- Proposals for a train-the-trainer approach
- Practical guides with in-depth technical details
- References to training centers, hardware/software, and experts
- Reports linking to new project outputs and hybrid training tools (MOOCs, Moodle, face-to-face courses, etc.)
It will also provide frameworks for measuring circularity and environmental impacts through LCA and CO2 assessments.
Deliverable: The online-accessible toolkit.
- Digital twins for gearbox, battery, and H2 tank will be developed to showcase circular economy improvements. These will serve as educational tools to train workers on the economic, environmental, and behavioral impacts of circular practices. TF, supported by WRC, FM, CHILL, and the pilot leaders, will lead the development of these educational resources.
Communication is crucial, with two key event types:
- Presentation events to showcase the toolkit and study results
- Awareness sessions for companies on environmental impacts
- Target groups include stakeholders, policymakers, educators, and companies. AMAC will assist in organizing these events.
For regional dissemination, TF will lead efforts in the WA region, with ULg and WRC supporting, while other partners cover their respective regions.
